Improve School Systems through efficient teaming, data systems, forms and procedures to promote BIP development, implementation and evaluation.

Administrative Commitment and Support are essential to implementing  and effective system of support for student requiring individualized behavior support. Administrative support must include an overall commitment to supporting students with challenging behavior in the school as well as active participation on student FBA/BIP team meetings. This is critical because decision making in BIP Planning meetings can often entail changes in schedule and allocation of resources that require administrative decision making in order to keep the meetings running effectively and efficiently.

Effective Team Routines and Process are necessary to facilitate a responsive process to most effectively and efficiently support the student, teachers, staff and parents. Team member roles and responsibilities need to be clearly defined with a commitment to interventions that are within the control of the team. The team needs to be disciplined and vigilant about not falling into the trap of admiring the problem.

Effective FBA/BIP Forms & Procedures are critical to guiding teams through a process that includes all steps (from assessment to plan development, implementation, evaluation and decision making) that are necessary for positive, enduring student outcomes. Through research and nearly 20 years of experience, Basic FBA to BIP has assembled a set of forms that strives to balance effectiveness and efficiency. Basic FBA to BIP emphasizes strong assessment practices and guidelines for generating function-based intervention, but further provides forms and procedures focused on supporting BIP implementation, practical data collection strategies, easy graphing and guidelines for decision making.

Efficient and Effective Data Systems are necessary to support team decision making. Basic FBA to BIP emphasizes the use of student outcome data and implementation fidelity data to guide decision making. Teams can not evaluate the effectiveness of an intervention if it is not being implemented with fidelity. The data collection and graphing tools used in Basic FBA to BIP have been developed to be feasible and to allow for presentation of meaningful data in a way that facilitates effective decision making.
